Shaunteka LaTrese (she/her/hers) is an Interdisciplinary TransHistorical Storyteller who has found home in the artistic mediums of spoken word, audio and sound art and visual storytelling. This culture curator has created conscious ripples of beautiful chaos with her BiMonthly Socio-Sexual audio experience, PrettyWild. As an Afro-Surrealist, Shaunteka’s expression provides space to challenge the norms of traditional socializations, while using practical knowledge of our collective similarities as a catalyst for compassionate understanding and communication. Shaunteka, seeks to cultivate a culture of margins riders who happily engage in conversations meant to deconstruct normalized social contracts while creating a new language and awareness for communication and expression.
Shaunteka is a student of life, author, an Abuela, someone’s mother, sister, daughter, lover and friend. She is not everyone’s cup of tea, but she is someone’s Crown straight!
She pioneered the concept of social distancing by ghosting friends (pun intended), social media is a means of staying connected. Ma’am is both a compliment and an insult she allows the individual to decide. She believes Naan is a whole meal and reading three books at one time is a sign of intelligence. Common sense is a side affect of intelligence; who knew.
S. LaTrese lives, teaches and disrupts the frequency from below the Mason Dixie Line and west of the Mississippi. She smiles when the situation warrants, happily drinks sweet tea as a real beverage and fails to wear her mask as frequently as she used to.
